From a Dream to Reality

Born and raised in Wilmington, North Carolina, Crystal and Johnnie Whaley grew up on opposite sides of the city, but they shared something special from the very beginning — a passion for people, creativity, and community. Crystal has always been the creative spirit, while Johnnie has always been the dreamer. Together, those qualities became the foundation of something much bigger than either of them imagined.

In 2011, Johnnie first dreamed of starting a business, while Crystal brought those dreams to life through her creativity and design work. Although the original vision looked very different from what exists today, it planted the seeds for what would eventually become Eternal Daystar Enterprise LLC.

That vision truly began to take shape in 2021 when Crystal and Johnnie entered into a partnership with Spacewalk inflatables. Through that partnership, Eternal Daystar Enterprise LLC was officially born. What started as a business quickly became a mission centered around creating joy, bringing people together, and building experiences families could cherish.

In 2023, they expanded their adventures by adding carnival games and taking over Hammer Down Fun and Games, a business originally based in Whiteville, North Carolina. This new chapter allowed them to bring even more laughter, excitement, and unforgettable memories to communities across the region.

Then in 2024, these two “crazy kids” made it official and got married, becoming not only business partners, but a family.

In 2025, another dream was born — one rooted in giving back. Crystal and Johnnie launched DayStar Express, a concession trailer created in partnership with McMullen House for Heroes INC, a nonprofit organization providing free counseling services to military personnel, first responders, and their families. Through this partnership, a portion of the profits from DayStar Express is donated directly to support those who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving others.

Most recently, in 2026, Crystal and Johnnie opened their newest adventure: Daystar Ice Cream Parlor in Navassa, North Carolina. Opening its doors on May 23rd, the parlor proudly became Navassa’s very first ice cream shop — and the home of the famous Navassa Mud ice cream sundae.

At the heart of everything Crystal and Johnnie do is one simple goal: bringing smiles to people’s faces. Whether through family entertainment, community events, sweet treats, or giving back to those in need, they believe in creating moments that bring people together. For them, business has never just been about products or services — it has always been about making memories, building community, and sharing joy with others.
